ADOPT A HORSE

All adoptable horses are placed in long term homes with an ADOPTION AGREEMENT. Please be prepared to provide references, and have your facilities inspected by the rescue's owner. We also prefer that you spend some time with the horse you are interested in adopting to be sure that it is a good match. 

S.S.S. has the right to refuse adoption to any party due to financial inability, improper facilities, limited horse knowledge, etc....

All adoption fees are used not only to cover the costs of caring for our rescues, but also to help other neglected, abused, and needy horses in the future. Horses are a heavy financial burden. If you cannot afford our adoption fee, then more than likely you cannot afford the costs associated with caring for that horse for the rest of its life. Please keep this in mind when inquiring about our adoptable horses.

We are not horse traders. We will not allow you to take the horse home on your first visit unless previous arrangements have been made and adoption has been approved, so please leave your trailers at home.

All colts will be gelded prior to leaving our location, and all mares come with a NO BREEDING clause in their Adoption Agreement.

2001 Miniature Donkey. Leads, loads, bathes, stands tied. Companion home only. The cutest donkey around! You just can't resist that face. Great with the kids!

T.J. Boogie Digger

2001 Grey Missouri Fox Trotter Gelding. Very gentle, friendly, loves attention. Leads, loads, bathes, stands tied, trims. Broke for intermediate to experienced rider. Big stocky boy and correct. Gaited. Missing right eye, but gets along great on the trails. Bet you can't resist his sweet face.

Sky

2003 Tennessee Walker Mare. Quiet, gentle. Leads, loads, bathes, stands tied and trims. Broke for intermediate to experienced rider. Gaited! She still needs a few pounds.

Tony The "Tank"

2002 Halflinger Gelding. Very gentle, great with the kids. Can be lazy. Also cart trained. Would be an excellent family horse, nothing phases him, never spooks. Has been ridden in playdays, parades, and trails rides. This pony foundered years ago, and requires a low sugar, low calorie diet and special shoes on his front feet to stay sound. He is a dream to have around.

Commanders Ground Control
(HHP Aire Command x I Can I Am)

1993 ASHA registered bay mare. Injury forces her to be placed in a "light riding" home only. G.C. was used as an endurance horse before she became a broodmare. She will only be placed in a single horse family, as she does not get along with other horses. Safe fencing a must. When not around other horses, this mare has a sweet temperment, loves people, and loves to be doted over. Very easy keeper.

Go Kings Whiz
(Poco Three Kings X Go Smurf Girl)

1999 AQHA Grulla Gelding. Broke, sweet tempered. 15.3 HH. Was ridden by an 80 year old man, however we will not do a riding assessment until his weight increases and health improves.

**Adoption Holding**

~Sarge is in need of surgery to remove a calcium buildup on his left front cannon bone, thought to be caused by an old injury. Once he has recovered from surgery he will be available for adoption.~ ~Donations for Sarge's surgery are being accepted.~

2003 ApHC Blue Roan "Few Spot" Mare. Green Broke, Gentle. 15 HH. Sound. Available for adoption after her foal is weaned in Sept 2010.  Possible pre-weaning adoption to approved home.  (Sire pictured above)

1991 Registered Bay Arabian Mare.  A broodmare that is ready to retire. Would make an excellent companion horse as she gets along with everyone. Easy to handle, great ground manners, all-around sweet girl. Was ridden on a few trail rides, but has no undersaddle training. A nice mare to pony the kids around on.

2009 APHA Tobiano Cremello gelding. Halter broke, leads, loads, bathes, stands tied. Big bodied colt, built like a tank. Should mature to 15HH. To approved experienced home only!

Daisy
(Percheron x QH)

1993 Grade Mare. Percheron/QH Cross. Trained as a "pack-horse". Stands to be loaded, doesn't move until led.  Very gentle. Would also make a great horse to pony the kids around on. 16 HH. 
We have started this mare undersaddle. She is very quiet and ready to work.

Brandy's Catalina
(Brandy Pewter X Catalina BR)

2004 AQHA Dapple Grey Mare. Nice pedigree. Built like a tank. 14.2 HH. Broke, 60 days professional training at 2 years old. Used on the ranch. Hasn't been ridden since she was bred in March 2009.  This mare came from an abusive situation and will require a confident and quiet handler to begin building her trust with humans again. This mare arrived to the rescue in-foal. She is available for adoption after her foal is weaned.

Pixie Dust

2001 Saddlebred Mare. Grade. Started undersaddle. Arena and trails. Gorgeous mare needing consistent handling. Only fault in this mare is she has issues with her ears being touched. Excellent hunter-undersaddle or dressage prospect! She has a beautiful head set, and great rythym to her trot.
