ADOPT A HORSE

All adoptable horses are placed in long term homes with an ADOPTION AGREEMENT. Please be prepared to provide references, and have your facilities inspected by the rescue's owner. We also prefer that you spend some time with the horse you are interested in adopting to be sure that it is a good match. 

S.S.S. has the right to refuse adoption to any party due to financial inability, improper facilities, limited horse knowledge, etc....

All adoption fees are used not only to cover the costs of caring for our rescues, but also to help other neglected, abused, and needy horses in the future. Horses are a heavy financial burden. If you cannot afford our adoption fee, then more than likely you cannot afford the costs associated with caring for that horse for the rest of its life. Please keep this in mind when inquiring about our adoptable horses.

We are not horse traders. We will not allow you to take the horse home on your first visit unless previous arrangements have been made and adoption has been approved, so please leave your trailers at home.





Freckles Poco Jewel
(Westbound Skipper x Freckles Miss Elite)

1999 AQHA Bay Mare. Started undersaddle as a 3 year old, but hasn't been ridden since. VERY GENTLE! Leads, loads, bathes stands tied, trims.  Three Bars, Dry Doc, and Two Eyed Jack on pedigree. 
Would be an excellent family horse with additional time undersaddle.

(Pecos Badger x Freckles Poco Jewel)

2009 AQHA Palomino Colt. Correct, gentle, halter broke. Big hip, big bodied, pretty head. By successful Reining sire "Pecos Badger". Due to neglect, his growth has been stunted. However, Chance should mature to 14.2. Dam pictured above.

2009 APHA Tobiano Cremello Colt. Should mature to 15HH. Halter broke. Spook is in need of surgery on his hind contract tendons. He will not be available for adoption until after he receives the needed surgery.

1993 Grade Percheron X Mare. Trained as a "pack-horse". Stands to be loaded, doesn't move until led.  Would be beautiful undersaddle with some additional training. Very gentle. Would also make a great horse to pony the kids around on. 16 HH.

Brandy's Catalina

2004 AQHA Dapple Grey Mare. Nice pedigree....fast mare. Quick mover, tight turns.  Broke, 60 days professional training at 2 years old. Used on the ranch for 3 years. Hasn't been ridden since she was bred in March 2009. She is available for adoption after her foal is weaned.

We are willing to place her in an approved home at $50 Adoption Fee to foal her out.
